Which strollers fit Disney's 31 by 52 rule

Disney publishes the number twice, once for each coast, and both pages say the same thing. Walt Disney World: "Strollers larger than 31" (79 cm) in width and 52" (132cm) in length are not permitted. Stroller wagons are also not permitted." The Disneyland park rules list the same two prohibitions in the same order and at the same 31 in and 52 in.

Two sentences, two rules. Almost every parent researching this reads the first one and stops. The second is the one that turns people away at the bag check.

What the rule measures, and what it ignores

Width and length of the stroller as you push it. Not folded size, not weight, not seat count, not the number of children in it. A stroller can weigh 40.12 lbs and stand 43.7 in tall and pass without comment.

Both numbers are also generous. The narrowest full-size stroller most families own is around 23.3 in wide; the widest side-by-side jogger sold in the United States is not far past 30.5 in. Disney set the line at 31 in, which sits above almost the entire market.

Nobody fails on size

Read down the width column against 31 in. The BravoFor2 at 23.3 in, the Vista V3 at 25.7 in, the City Mini GT2 Double at 29.25 in, the Donkey 5 Twin at 29.1 in — none of them are close to the line. Even the BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie, a side-by-side jogging stroller with air-filled tires, is 30.5 in.

The length column is the same story. The longest here is the Duallie at 48 in against a 52 in limit. The Donkey 5 Twin stretches from 33.5 in to 41.7 in depending on where the handlebar sits, and both ends are inside.

So if the size rule is what you were worried about, you can mostly stop worrying. Measure your stroller if it is unusual, and otherwise assume it goes in. The same width figures settle a question you meet far more often than a park gate, which is whether the thing fits through your own doorway — we put these widths against the door standard in American building codes.

The rule that actually stops people

Wagons are banned outright. Not wagons over a certain size — wagons.

The Evenflo Pivot Xplore is the clearest illustration in this group. It is 27.5 in wide and 45 in long, comfortably inside a box that says 31 in and 52 in. It is also a stroller wagon, so the measurement never comes up. The Veer All-Terrain Cruiser is narrower still, with a body 20 in wide, and it is in exactly the same position.

This catches families out because the wagon is usually the newest and most expensive thing in the garage, bought specifically for long days on foot. It is the piece of gear people most want to bring, and it is the one piece the rule names.

Which makers say it out loud

Three postures, and they are worth telling apart.

Chicco prints the claim on the product page: "This stroller is Theme Park Compliant (does not exceed 52" L x 31" W)". That is a maker quoting the park's own numbers back at you and taking responsibility for meeting them.

Veer does the opposite and does it just as plainly. Its own support site answers the Disney question with "As of May 1, 2019, Disney changed their Stroller Rules and the Veer Cruiser is not permitted in the parks." A company telling you its product is not allowed where you want to take it is unusual, and it is more useful than silence.

Everyone else here is silent. Not misleading — silent. UPPAbaby, Bugaboo, Baby Jogger, BOB and Evenflo publish dimensions and let you do the comparison yourself, which is fine as long as they publish the dimensions.

The one you cannot check

Thule does not publish unfolded dimensions for the Urban Glide 3 Double at all. Folded, yes: 34.6 x 31.1 x 13.4 in. Weight, yes: 35.3 lb. Open width and length, no.

What it publishes instead is a spec called door pass through, at 31.5 in. That is a useful number for a hallway and a misleading one here, because Thule never says it is the stroller's overall width, and 31.5 in sits above Disney's 31 in either way. On the maker's published data, this stroller cannot be checked against the rule. That is a gap in the spec sheet, not a verdict on the stroller.

UPPAbaby has a smaller version of the same gap. The 25.7 in width belongs to the Vista V3 as sold; the company publishes no separate dimensions for the double configuration.

The eight, one by one

What this comes down to

If you are shopping with a park trip in mind, the size limit should not drive the decision. Everything in this comparison that is a stroller clears it, and most clear it by a wide margin.

The decision the rule actually forces is stroller or wagon. That one is binary, it does not depend on dimensions, and it is worth making before you buy rather than at the entrance. A wagon that is 27.5 in wide and a wagon that is 20 in wide are treated identically, and Disney has kept that position on both coasts.

And when a maker does publish a number, read the label on it. Thule's 31.5 in is a door pass-through figure, not a width, and if you were checking it against the park rule you would be comparing two different measurements. The same care applies at the airport, where the folded number matters instead — we measured six travel strollers against the carry-on box and only one of them fit.
